Scrap and Chat

Please join me from 11 am -12 noon EST time in the Heritage Scrap chat room for a Scrap and Chat session.
For this chat you will be looking for clues in the thread which you will use to build your LO. The clues will be in all caps. I will be giving you some links with examples to help you see what it is we are looking for.
At the end of the chat, you will have 15 clues which you will use to create a Layout and post it in the challenge gallery.

You will receive an attendance gift as well as a posting gift if you complete and post a LO by midnight Nov. 8th.
Keep a list of your credits and post them with your LO letting us know what you used.

Come and join in the fun! Meet us in the Chat Room.

Re: Scrap And Chat

Postby Victoria32 on Sat Nov 07, 2009 12:52 pm

We had a great time in chat this morning, but if you missed the chat and want to do the challenge and get the posting gift, here is the info:

Welcome to the Scrap and chat.
Please feel free to aks any questions you have as we go along.
Also, after the chat, ask any questions in the Forum Thread
viewtopic.php?f=74&t=649

In this hour I will be giving you clues you will use to create your LO. You should have 15 by the time we are done.
I will type the item/clue in all CAPITAL LETTERS and will provide examples of items in the shop or in a LO.

So are we ready to start?

1. Create a LO using a MONOCHROMATIC base, that is layer your papers as desired but use all of the same family color in the papers you use. You will be

allowed to use colors in your elements. Use at least 2 papers. The Vintage Kitchen collection kit by Kate
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1150
has at least 3 papers which would work well together. Most of Lynn Giffens' kits have several papers in more than one color scheme in them. Cozy

Cottage
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=516
has 5 colors of papers and elements with at least 3 good papers in each color group with the color matching elements.

2. Cut one of your papers into a CIRCLE or OVAL SHAPE as seen here
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... puser=1075
in the layout I made using several kits from the Vintage kitchen series.

3. Add a TORN EDGE, or FOLDED paper to the LO. This kit by Cari Lopez ASk Mr Time has a wonderful torn edge overlay

http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=813
as seen in this LO http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... puser=1075 or a TORN CORNER element as found in Poetic Paperie by Kate

McClellen http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=728
used on this LO
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... photo=4813
This LO by Linda has a nice CURVED EDGE ACCENT
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... photo=6609
using Bubbly Kori's portion of the Heritage Builder's Collabe kit
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... 89c5e9bcd8
Kate's Cival War kit has several TORN EDGES elements
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=622

4. Use 1 or more PHOTOS in your LO.

5. FRAME your photo with a FRAME of your choice. I like the decorated frame seen in this LO by Lyndabook but any photo FRAME is okay
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... imit=last7
using the Recollection page kit by Lynn Griffen found here
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1117
This kit has a wonderful line of color cordinated papers in shades of blues, roses, or neutral which might help you with the paper selection in clue 1
Many of the kits by Jean Daugherty and Digizines by Teri also have wonderfully decorated frames in them. You can achieve a professional looking cluster

easily. I love Cherished Memories by Jean found here
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=565
and Autumn Winds by Teri
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1079
there are also FRAMES which have a JOURNALLING attachment.

6. Add a JOURNALLING MAT. Jean Daugherty's Heritage Chest series are wonderful for finding journalling elements

http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=558
Victorian Rose Designs has a nice 2 page open book style journal element in The Antique Car kit found here
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=919
as well Theresa's Stories To tell Series has nice journalling elements as well.

7. Add a SWIRL element as seen in this layout by Anne
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... photo=7939
This kit by Theresa has a nice SWIRL in it
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1102

8. STITCHING on heritage layouts add a nice touch. Grandmother's Sewing Basket by Annie's Digital Designs has a good variety of stitches
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... 1cddf87b69

9. This LO
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... puser=1075 has a good example in the use of GREENERY from A Fine Romance by
Kate McClellen
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=811
GREENERY provides color contrast in an otherwise neutral color scheme.
Theresa Lindamood of ForgetMe Not Designs has GREENERY incorporated in some of her clusters as seen in her Stories To Tell series of kits
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1119

10. Use a DATE ELEMENT on the LO - the Recollections kit by Lynn has a date element but feel free to find another one of your choice
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1117

11. Add FASTENERS either STAPLES, BRADS, or BUTTONS - many kits contain these. Barb Speck's Artistic Grandmas Vintage Wedding has a nice selection
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... cts_id=893

12. Add a piece of LACE or RIBBON -this kit of Theresa's has a beautiful LACE elements
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1003

13. Add any ELEMENTS you need to complete your LO. Rachael Hudnall has some lovely clusters in her store
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... 89c5e9bcd8
which can be used to add some artsitc flair to your LO's.

14. Add JOURNALLING. There are many good examples of JOURNALLING in the gallery.

15. Add a TITLE or WORD ART. Many kits contain coordinating WORD ART ot TITLE words. Use a FONT you like or use an ALPHA for the title.
Rachael Hudnall's Vintage Kitchen has a nice piece of WORD ART to use for your Recipe pages.
http://www.heritagescrap.com/shop/index ... ts_id=1148
Victorian Rose Designs also has a ncie series of WORD ART for her Lifebook Series

Here is what I came up with for the challenge
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showph ... photo=8109

That's it. Go create your layout and post it in the in the CHALLENGE Gallery
http://heritagescrap.com/Gallery/showga ... hp?cat=759
and post the link back in the forum thread
viewtopic.php?f=74&t=649
Have fun! Thanks for comming. I'm looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.
Remember, this is your layout, so make it pleasing to your eye. Add your artistic flair.
Remember, give credits to the designers whose products you use.
I'll be in and out today, but will keep an eye on the forum thread and answer any questions.

Everybody who creates and posts a LO by midnight EST on Nov. 8 will get a layered template as a posting gift.

I had a lot of fun with this challenge, the chat was really neat and my first time to one. We had a blast! I was stumped for a moment doing the actual layout, but managed to come up with one. I'm really glad I did this challenge, I learned some new things to be creative and will work on incorporating them into other layouts. I also was introduced to some wonderful kits that I never really have seen before. Now the wheels are turning for more ideas.

Most of this LO was done using only one kit with a couple pieces from others. Thank you so much Helene and I hope maybe you will do another one again sometime. I learned alot!!!

Also, please let me know if you didn't get your posting bonus.
