1 tsp ginger 3 eggs
1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup milk

Love this! My no fail recipe doesn't have the B.P. in it. I'm allergic to pork so can't use the lard, but my friend Gladys, who went to glory at age 105, told me when she was about 100, how she made her pies and she insisted it must be lard to have them come out just right and that shortening would never do! She was quite ADAMANT and it was so cute. She was such a lovely lady and I miss her. I have to admit, I'm really looking forward to some of your Mennonite family recipes! this is going to be a fun callenge!

Theresa....I think margaine might work in the recipe. I think it would have the be the kind that is not pre-softened with water added. I know the lard does make good pastry and it was a staple in the Mennonite diet.
